Colin Huang
Founder of Pinduoduo (PDD Holdings), which he launched in 2015; he formerly served as its chairman and chief executive officer.
Background
Colin Huang is the founder of Pinduoduo. According to statistics from the four major real estate agencies compiled by Guandian New Media, between 2024 and 2026 the buyer profile of Hong Kong luxury homes priced at HK$100 million or more changed markedly: people from the property industry accounted for less than 10%, while new buyers from technology and internet, hard manufacturing, healthcare and cross-border capital became the core force. According to Guandian, one of the most representative cases from the technology and internet sector was the sea-view double house at 33 Island Road, Repulse Bay, which Colin Huang bought for HK$480 million in 2025; the property directly faces the whole of Repulse Bay beach and has a saleable area of nearly 5,000 square feet.
The transaction has been viewed in the context of the turnover between old and new buyers in Hong Kong’s top-end luxury market. From 2015 to 2017, about 70% of buyers of Hong Kong homes priced at HK$100 million or more were controlling shareholders of mainland property companies; after the industry’s liquidity crisis broke out in 2022, the tycoons behind mainland private developers sold off Hong Kong luxury homes en masse, while buyers from the internet and other new-economy sectors gradually took over. Data from Centaline Property show that in 2025 Hong Kong recorded 262 transactions of homes priced above HK$100 million, with a total value of HK$53.1 billion, a record high.
