About the Atlas
China Biz Atlas is an independent archive of Chinese companies, entrepreneurs, investors and business history — and of the relationships that connect them. It is published in English and in Chinese.
Much of what matters about Chinese business is difficult to find in English: fragmented across sources, documented only in Chinese, or missing from the standard encyclopedias. The Atlas brings this material together as original research, written for international readers who want to understand how companies were built, who built them, and how they are connected.
What you will find
- Companies — corporate histories, turning points, leadership and ownership, with verified names.
- People — careers of entrepreneurs, executives and investors, traced through the companies they founded, led or backed.
- Stories — long-form narratives that connect facts into explanations: how a deal happened, why a strategy changed.
- Connections — a graph of the links between the wiki pages of people and companies: each page is a node, and two pages are connected when one links to the other. Click any node to open its page.
How it is made
Every page is researched and written by our editors. Software helps us organise research notes and propose facts, but nothing is published without a human editor reviewing and approving it. The Chinese edition is translated and approved by editors in the same way. Read more in our editorial standards.
What the Atlas is not
The Atlas is not a stock-quote service, a news wire or investment advice. It does not mass-produce pages; each published page is meant to stand on its own as useful research.
